Things to do in Grasmere (and surrounds)
Stunning views and some of England’s finest scenery provide a backdrop to the wide choice of attractions, activities and things to do in the Lake District. Broadrayne Farm is in the very heart of the Lakes District national park, so whatever you fancy doing it is never far from the door.
Leave the car behind and explore the immediate area; follow the Coast to Coast walk over to Patterdale or branch off up to the Helvellyn ridge or to Fairfield. On the other side of the valley you will find the high tops around Easedale, scramble to the top of Helm Crag or take a gentle stroll around Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water.
Indulge yourself in quality food and drink from cosy traditional Lake District pubs and inns with roaring fires and fine ales to more formal fine dining restaurants or picture postcard cafés serving wonderful homemade cakes. Or maybe a pamper day at a local spa to ease those walking muscles!
Visit the museums and galleries that celebrate the wealth of poets and artists who have been inspired by the stunning scenery of the Lake District. There are art exhibitions on throughout the year. The ancient St Oswald’s church in Grasmere is the resting place of William Wordsworth and many of his family. The nearby Dove Cottage museum details the history his life and work.
